Tambour Lace is an age old method of embroidery using chain stitches to create shapes, florals, etc. In this collection I have used similar techniques in producing this freestanding lace designs. The Tambour collection is a multi collection series consisting of freestanding lace designs which when sewn together create stunning pieces of fabric like lace. In this first collection, you will find the border designs which can be used in many different ways. There are two designs in this collection. One is the corner and the other is the edge. Placed upside down, the edge design creates wonderful free standing lace borders for articles of clothing, linen etc. As these designs have open areas, they give a very antique look to the lace. Please note that this is the first collection in the series.

This lace doily measuring approximately 8" in diameter was created using both the corner and the edge designs. The corner designs are a bit wider accomodating the corner and  therefore eliminating pull towards the center of the round doily.

This is another example of the Tambour collection designs where the edge designs are placed upside down creating an edge and then placed together with the corner design at each corner can create a large edging for garments, linen etc.
Example of two edge designs placed upside down to create a much wider lace border.
As shown here, the edge design has been placed upside down to create this long edging.
