"Shah-e-Jahan" pronounced: Sha-Hey-Ja-Han literally means "King of the World". The rose is known as a King amongst flowers hence the name. Historically, Shah Jahan was a very powerful Mughal Emperor of India in the early 1600's. He is known for the architectural advancement in the Sub-continent such as the Red Fort and the wonder of the world, Taj Mahal was one of his greatest architectural accomplishments which took over twenty years to build. The Peacock throne was a lavish accomplishment of Shah Jahan built of rare jewels and gold. The throne now resides in Iran.
The Shah-e-Jahan collection was created in memory of my Mother who grew roses in her garden. The yellow rose also known as Shah-e-Jahan was one of her greatest loves. The collection has thirty two designs in various hoop sizes and can be used to embellish just about any item. Please have a look at the project page to see pictures of some of the projects done using these designs. You do have the option of purchasing the complete collection or the designs individually.
Any color can be used for the roses, however I have used yellow shades. The designs are created such that the buds can be stitched using a lighter shade than the rose to give a realistic effect. There are very few or none jump stitches in all designs. These designs were also part of the Logo for the AEC Fall 2004.
