Technique for stitching the front panel of the eye glass case |
This design will create an appliquéd flower on the front panel of the eye glass case.
- Hoop water soluble stabilizer.
- The machine will stitch out the area for placing the fabric for the front panel.(1)
3.Place your eye glass front panel fabric on top of the hoop. The machine will stitch it down.(2) |
4. Thread matching color to the appliqué fabric that will be used for the morning glory design. The machine will stitch out the outline of the appliqué (3) |
5. Do not change threads. Place the appliqué fabric for the Morning glory and the machine will stitch it down.
6.Remove the hoop from the machine and lay on a flat surface. DO NOT REMOVE STABILIZER OR FABRIC.
7. Trim close to the appliqué design of the morning glory to remove excess fabric. Also trim away the excess front panel fabric. (4) |
8. Place the hoop back in the machine. Change threads accordingly to the design to finish stitching it out. (5) |
9. Remove the hoop from the machine and lay on flat surface. Place a piece of flannelete right side down on the table. Pin the flannel to the stabilizer, making sure that the pins are not in the way of the stitching and that the piece is large enough to cover the back side of the front panel. (6) The machine will stitch down both layers joining them together. |
10. Remove hoop from machine and lay on a flat surface. Turning the hoop to the back side, trim close to the stitching line. (10). |
11. Wind a bobbin of the top thread that will be used to stitch the opening area of the front panel. Place the bobbin in the machine. Place hoop back in machine to let finish the satin edge of the top of the front panel.(11)
12. Do not trim away the stabilizer once the design is finished. You will need the stabilizer to pin to the back panel.

Technique for joining the front and back panels of the eye glass case |
1.Matching the bottom and sides of the front panel to the back panel, pin the front panel to the back panel by placing pins all around. Make sure that the panels match up. |
2. Make sure that the bobbin thread is the same as the top thread. The machine will join both pieces together.
3. Remove hoop from machine. Trim excess stabilizer from all around the glass case and from around the opening of the glass case. |
4. Take a qtip and wet its tip in warm water. Run the qtip around the edges of the glass case to remove the water soluble stabilizer. Be careful not to use too much water.
You may also wash your eye glass case to permanently remove all the water soluble stabilizer from within its layers. Please soak and keep on changing water to remove all the stabilizer. I normally put mine in the washing machine in a mesh bag. Be sure that you have pre-shrinked all fabrics if you are going to wash the eye glass case. |
