Heirloom Crystals II (Celebrations) Project Page

Creating a Baby bonnet using a pre-made handkerchief

Supplies needed:

Lace edged Handkerchief (I purchased mine from allaboutblanks)
Embroidery design (I used HC2b-design should be small enough to go in corner) Ribbon (should be wide enough to go through the lace edging)
Crystals- if desired
Embroider a small design in one corner of the handkerchief. Apply crystals if desired.
Depending upon the size of the design, fold back about three inches (right sides together and minus the lace edging). Press to hold the crease. Now fold the handkerchief again but this time you will bring the right side to the front. The lace edging should just be outside the edge of the handkerchief.
This is how your handkerchief will look after folding. We will be weaving the ribbon on the three sides of the handkerchief.
Weave the ribbon on three sides, pulling it to gather the handkerchief into a bonnet.
Finished Bonnet!
