Special Gift 2007

To thank all my friends around the world for their continued support and friendship, here is a special gift of Snowflakes. I thank you all for your kindness and generosity and thoughtfulness throughout the year. Wishing all a very Happy and Joyous Holiday season and best wishes for the coming New Year.

The gift designs have two colors. The base is a gold or yellow and the top color which is the main snowflake can be any color of your choice. Varied designs from the same theme of a larger snowflake, corner freestanding lace design and the coaster design all blend together to making a lovely holiday decor. All the designs fit the 4x4 hoop.

Stitching techniques:

Snowflake Design 1 and 2:

To stitch out the snowflakes (designs 1 and 2), simply hoop water soluble stabilizer and stitch away. After the design is completed, wash away excess stabilizer and let dry on a flat surface. Use same thread in bobbin as the top thread to make the snowflake look the same on both sides. Design 1 is a snowflake ornament and has a tiny loop at the top for hanging. Design 2 is simiilar to design 1 without the loop and can be used by itself as a motif on clothing or home decor..

Snowflake Design 3:

Snowflake 3 is a corner design and can be used for decorating corners of napkins, table runners, cloths etc or even a neckline. Hoop water soluble stabilizer and stitch out the design. Wash away all the stabilizer and let dry on flat surface.

Stitch through the center of the motif to join to fabric using a fine zigzag stitch and same color thread as the final color in the design. .

Snowflake Design 4 and 5:

Hoop water soluble stabilizer and stitch out the design. Design 5 is a large snowflake ornament and has a small loop in one corner. Design 4 is similar to design 5 except it does not have the loop and can be used for coasters etc.

Snowflake Design 6:

Snowflake design 6 is similar to design 4 and 5 except it has an opening in the design so it can be used as a wineglass cover. Stitch out the design, wash away water soluble stabilizer and let dry. The wineglass opening is about half an inch and will suit glasses that have a tapered stem.

Snowflake Design 7:

Snowflake design 7 is a continuous border design with portion of the preceeding design already marked. Hoop water soluble stabilizer and stitch out one of the border designs. Cut away excess stabilizer from around the design. Hoop another piece of wss. Your color chart will show three colors. The first two colors are the same except a deliberate color stop has been placed to stop the machine.

Stitch out the first color. It will look as above. Place the already stitched out motif matching the same markings on it to the markings shown above.

Pin securely making sure to keep your pins out of the way of the embroidery. Continue embroidering to create a freestanding lace border as long as you would like.
