"Farsi" is pronounced Far-see. The word "Farsi" means Persian or pertaining to Persia. Persian art and architecture is a watershed of many cultures including Arab, Greek, Turkish, Chinese etc. The use of ornamental and decorative designs lend themselves to flowery vines, birds, creatures of folklore etc. These designs can be seen in carpets, textiles, mosques, ceramics, metals and just about on any surface or form. The "Safavid" dynasty (early 1500) was famous for glorifying the Persian arts under Shah Tahmasp who made Isfahan his Capital and promoted the artisans. Isfahan is famous for its beautiful architecture and art depicted on buildings even today.
Farsi 3 is a continuation from Farsi I and II. In this collection I have endeavored to capture the floral and motif tiles as seen in the various buildings, vases, carpets etc. The designs lend themselves to creating much larger designs, ofcourse with a modern day twist. The designs are a mixture of 4x4 and 5x7 hoop. The stitch count is quite low therefore allowing for faster stitching. Designs can be purchased individually or as a collection. Samples can be downloaded at the bottom of the page. I hope you enjoy using these designs in recreating Persian artwork onto fabric via machine embroidery, as much as I enjoyed creating them.
