Tidbits-March 5, 2008
Whew! It seems like I have totally gone AWOL! Since my last post I have been a bit busy with tons to do and still not finished!!! But its all in the right direction and hopefully I should be posting some goodies soon. Meanwhile, lots have been happening and what is keeping me extremely busy is quite a different type of project or projects (should I say) than what I have done before. My goal always will be to achieve that hand look perfection in machine embroidery.
Inbro! Commercial Embroidery machine:
Last year when I was at Ruthie’s Notions in Baker, Florida, I had the opportunity to have a first hand look at this amazing commercial machine. Although a commercial machine, it utilises only one needle which has an auto threader to automatically thread the next threads without operator interference! I did have my doubts at one needle’s capability until I saw it in action and saw the pros. More needles in a machine mean more parts and more problems whereas having one needle which does automatically change the threads means lesser problems. Not only that but the hoop size is about 18″x14″ which is a definite plus for so many of us. The threading system is quite unique as it automatically threads itself therefore eliminating the operator to manually change threads. I’m not sure just yet but I believe it is a 12 thread system using one needle. Ofcourse, Ruthie’s notions is the US rep for the machine so do go to the website: http://www.ruthiesnotions.com and have a look at the video showing the machine in action.
Customer’s Niche:
From time to time I recieve some unusual embroidered items from
friends. One of the most unusual and interesting item sent to me by a dear friend Jeannie was this lovely bag. A multitude of designs were used by Jeannie to create this adorable bag and I do love the colors!
Jacobean Symphony embroidery designs with the Tambour Lace Trims and the licensed grommet designs to Creative Needlecraft (http://www.creativeneedlecraft.com ) were used. What a cool purse idea! Thank you so much Jeannie!
Schedule 2008:
Lots of changes have been going on and unfortunately I won’t be attending my most favourite show of the year! The American Embroidery Conference (http://www.braeco.com ). But, I did have a bit of a surprise today when my dh suggested that I delegate him to be my representative at the show! Oh wow! Should I dare take him up on his offer??
Martha Pullen’s Babylock licensing was another one of my must attend shows this year but alas I have had to also chalk that off my calendar. I understand the next licensing won’t be till 2010 so I’m rather sad and depressed at the moment over missing out on two great events.
However, to cheer me up somewhat I have a treat for friends for later in the year. I had to decide whether to attend the ASG in Chicago this July or to go to Ruthie’s Notions in Baker, Florida. As much as I love the ASG I had to bite the bullet and opt for Ruthie’s. Temptation to go south and be near the water is always going to win over by me so when the talks were finalised I chose Ruthies. Besides, the fun and laughter and camaderie at Ruthies is fabulous and last year I had a great time visiting with so many friends. So if you have any plans for July, mark your calendars for the last weekend and do call up Ruthies early to book as seats are limited. I know I am excited! Ruthies’ Website is: http://www.ruthiesnotions.com
East coast, here I come in the fall! I am still looking forward to it. Do have a look now and then at my schedul page: http://www.sadiasews.com/schedule2008.html
As for digitizing, I am taking my time in creating some very unusual embroideries along with a dear friend. I do hope to have some sneak previews shortly.
