New Year-New Venues

Sometimes, the road we travel does come to a fork and it is at that fork that we must decide which path to take….sort of like digitizing, LOL. Various options available and the designer decides the actual path to take. In my life, the past month has been a bit hectic and unpredictable….in a good way though. Some while back, I had to make decisions whether to continue digitizing and teaching or seek another avenue keeping digitizing as a secondary hobby business. The decision was extremely hard and difficult. Looking back at the past ten years, I see so many changes in the machine embroidery world. Good changes, ofcourse. Machine embroidery designs were marketed mainly by commercial concerns with only a handful of Home digitizers. Now, it is the home digitizers that occupy the market with the commercial concerns trying to keep up with the ingenuity of the home digitizers. What a difference!

For the past two years, I have been toying with the idea of which direction to take. Working in the field was extremely tempting and last month I finally made the decision to work full time outside the home. This did mean a change of residence and also my activities involved with the Machine Embroidery world. However, taking this path does not mean that I intend to completely leave the ME world. At the moment, I intend to keep ME as a side business concentrating on my goals of Machine Embroidery…..Creating Heirlooms for Tomorrow via Machine Embroidery, and at the same time reducing the times spent on traveling for machine embroidery conferences and conventions.

It is indeed a different situation for me and some changes are going to be made to my shopping cart shortly. Orders that were sent within the hour are now going to be sent within twenty four hours or sooner. Moreover, orders will now be sent during the evening hours and during weekends as that is the time that I am able to work from home.  Change of residence means that now I am living in the city during the week and returning home on weekends. At no time, do I ever want to quit my designing and indeed there will be some spectacular ideas coming shortly. One of my most coveted design series is working with another dear friend and we hope to release the first of the series some time this year. I do intend to honour all my intentions this year as best as I can….too soon to say anything just yet however.

Sadia,
I just wanted to let you know that you certainly will be missed by many people at the AEC this year. This is where my friends and I first met you and fell in love with all of your beautiful designs. I have purchased more of yours that I will ever use in my lifetime, but each time I see a new set, I just knew that “someday” I would use them! I have taken may classes from you and even emailed you during the night to ask another question. Surprised that you were also online at 3a.m. I wish you the very best in whatever you are doing right now and look forward to seeing you again, in Chicago at the ASG Convention in July.

Hugs, Donna
