Decisions-decisions….transferring ideas to stitches

Sometimes I wonder if writers have similar occurences when writing a book…where sc1in the midst of a plot suddenly everything is changed. Or, if the ending of a book is created in two different ways. Interesting thought though…. Personally, I never have a complete idea when I start with any of my designs. I do have a vision but how the vision would end up…that is entirely up to the time, the mood, the look etc. Working for quite some while on second part of my Secret Garden, I had to admit that I am not sure which way to turn. I like both looks but they are both so very different.

What I had started out with originally is nothing what it is looking like now. Taking advice of family and friends, I kept on with the garden shed look and actually had started to like it a lot and was able to even finish quite a bit of it….until I had a look again at the first Secret Garden. The idea behind the whole scene had been to give it a sort of old fashioned garden with a definite female presence. The garden shed started to look too homey and country like to me…although I do like it.

As the bird bath is the focal point, I wanted it to be centered or near the center somehow with the rest of the scenery built around it. My problem had been the open areas at the near top of the design. Birds came to mind, but then one cannot place a horde or birds up in the sky area…that just wouldn’t do. I did think of adding a tree in the background and have it sort of cover part of the wide open areas. But all it did to me was change the whole look of the design. The bird bath started to look out of place and the garden shed took over being the focal point.

So, yesterday I started playing again…sg2 Doing away completely with the garden shed, I placed a rock wall instead and started playing with perhaps some type of foliage hanging down in the background with a wrought iron fence. Suddenly the whole picture came alive again. No longer was it the calm peaceful scene, rather it was the mysterious part of the garden just as I had initially envisioned it to be. Ofcourse this meant hours of work gone to waste….or did they?

Thinking of creating unusual and different embroideries has always intrigued me and this is when the gray cells started to work. What if I move the iron fence and wall to the right a bit so the four top panels on the right can be changed by the embroiderer to the panels of the garden shed. Two different looks….one design!

I may do just that yet! My sincere thanks to many friends and my dear hubby for their continued ideas and critique….no way cooking in the embroidery software is boring…it is fascinating!

Definitely like the turn this took!! Matches nice with the first garden scene, still a little mysterious of what is beyond. I like that.
