More on Transferring Ideas to Stitches

Further on my latest venture into creating a large embroidered w2piece led me to rethink several elements within the design. What looks good on paper does not necesarily transfer well into stitches….well, it can but…it may not showcase well. One of my concerns had been the open areas in my drawing. However, I had learned from creating the “Secret Garden” last year that overall stitching had to be even. In other words, I could not have too much stitches in one panel and not in the other.

The bottom panels were starting to look fine except the top panels started to loose the continuity of stitches and ideas. This bothered me a lot…and still does. So, taking out some more time to create a different look altogether I decided to incorporate a part of a building within the design. It is a garden and it can have a portion of a building in it preferably with some trellis etc on one side that may blend it into the rest of the drawing. My bird bath seems to want to be the focal point so although I have it centered, yet I’m debating whether to push it a bit more to the right with a brick path around it or perhaps more grass.

Speaking of stitches.  As each panel is 5×7 hoop size, it is extremely important to pay attention to details otherwise up close, the whole piece may look a bit blah. One does not need to completely fill up areas rather play with various tools and give dimension. One of the latest motif fills released in the new Embird Digitizing studio is a fur type fill which although is an open weave fill yet has so much potential for creating dimension.  I used it on the roof of my building and was pleasantly surprised at the outcome. In the past I’ve used regular fills created by me to give that effect. Oh well….back to work and more pondering….

OOOOOoooooohhhhhhhh, I like that, but I am inclined like you to say the bird bath does not need to be centered, seem to just stare at the birdbath before my eye travels on. Twenty more hours tonight and by golly you will have it.
