Florida and sunshine….YAY!!!

Compared to 13 degrees fahrenheit, with snow and sleet, I think I would rather opt for sunshine, beautiful beaches and warm temps! And that is a sort of thing that we basically do every year. New Orleans used to be our winter vacation spot but this year we decided to tour Florida. My flying trips to Boca Raton in the past years while attending the AEC have really not been the touring kind where I’ve been able to really explore a bit so when dh decided that we would explore a bit of Florida, I was all for it. Mix a little business with pleasure and the trip became even more interesting….personally I think sitting on a windy beach or sunshine for days on end can get a bit boring, LOL.

Business wise I decided to do some hands on classes and trunk florida2008shows at Palm Beach Gardens at Laura’s Sew and Vac. Laura is the most sweetest dealer that I have ever met. Not only is she extremely patient but also so very accomodating. I had a chance to meet so many lovely ladies, some I had met personally or online and some that were totally new. Above is a picture of some of the ladies that attended one of my hands on class. The concept was totally new to them and I was so very pleased to see them catch the gist and work on their own to get the project finished. This was my first chance to see all different brands of machines at one place and have a chance at comparing them….okay call me selfish, call me spoiled but I have to say that the Brother Duetta wins every which way without a doubt. Please do not shoot me, LOL.

A definite change in our world of sewing/embroidery:

Yup, it is very very much happening. I recently received an email from a dear friend who used to work with the Sewing and Vaccum Traders association. Her email pointed me towards a brand new site dedicated towards spreading the joy of all sorts of sewing, machine embroidery etc. called DIY Style: http://diystyle.net/  The site is an extremely fun site with sewing projects and affiliated with leading machine embroidery and sewing corporations. There is a definite change coming in our sewing and embroidery world. The creativity of everyone out there is amazing and definitely there is a space for everyone’s style hence DIY!
