The nature of people:
Hmmm, what does nature of people have to do with embroidery, you ask? And why should I put forth my philosophical beliefs on an embroidery blog? Well, first of all, it is people that make up the embroidery world and this is my blog therefore I can, LOL. For the past several weeks IĀ have watched and read through some interesting emails
sent to me or forwarded to me regarding a few Yahoo groups which are heavily into sharing designs of any and all digitizers. What surprised me mostly was that the informant sending me the information didn’t bother to hide the fact that he/she was part of the group and received the files as well. Reasoning on my part deducted that either the personĀ had a falling out and was now trying to “get back” at the others or the person indeed had planted himself/herself into the midst of the sharers to gather information. I have seen this type of behaviour in other groups and have often wondered at the naivete of these folks. First of all, no one, unless they belong to a law enforcement agency should ever involve themselves in such a situation. If the sharers were to be brought to justice they can very easily produce proof the informant being part and parcel of the whole activity. My advice to friends…..DON’T DO IT.
More on the nature of folks….why do we act offended when someone talks nasty about us but then when we ourselves talk nasty of another (and especially of one whom we have no idea about) do we consider their feelings and the impact of our statements! Something to think about definitely.
Victorian Quilting I:
Quilting and sewing are definitely making a come back and for friends who are into machine embroidery, I have plans to revive the quilting by introducing well known quilt blocks to be duplicated via the embroidery machine. My first attempt was via the Victorian Patchwork collections and continued with the Victorian Patchwork Revisited. Victorian Quilts I will be a continuation of the well known quilt blocks known to quilters with a lot of variation but definitely a hand made look.
The first in the series I hope to introduce at the Round Bobbin Show held in St. Charles, MO. The concept is quite simple with alignment stitches built in which aid in making continuous borders, several types of quilt blocks etc. The border design shown at the top of the page involves four hoopings but with a painless connectivity to where the vine seems continuous. I’m rather excited about the collection and working hard at creating heirloom type quilts etc with the designs.
