Kids in Distress 2007

Today I received not one but two very special items in the mail. One package waskidshirt from Dianne Pomeroy, owner of the American Embroidery Conference (http://www.braeco.com) with a Tshirt put together by Sewing Machine.com.  Sewingmachine.com is and has been a sponsor at the AEC for quite some while now. My understanding is that these shirts were available at the AEC and I remember seeing them but did not realise they were on sale. Thanks to Dianne I now have a memory of this unforgettable conference. The tshirt itself speaks volumes and I am extremely proud to be involved in this drive.

The other item is a card from Kids in Distress and I was touched by the lovely poem inside it.

Friends, the drive for quilts for Kids in Distress has started. Last year Bernie Griffith and I promoted the drive for quilts. This year I am so happy that I am not alone in promoting this drive but several other friends have also joined us. Mimi Deck (who is a lovely and fun loving person) from Daffy Down Designs has also joined me in promoting the quilts for Kids in Distress this year. If you have not seen Daffy’s designs, I strongly urge you to do such. Be very careful though….they will pull at the heartstrings of all mothers, grandmothers….They really are that cute. Her website where you can find more information about her participation is: http://www.daffydowndilly.com/index.php?act=viewDoc&docId=10

Another designer who wishes to remain anonymous has also joined us in donating designs for the drive and believe me they will be a nice surprise. The guidelines are very simple. Simply make a brand new quilt, whether pieced or embroidered etc but without any buttons, loose ribbons, threads, yarns etc and send it to Dianne Pomeroy(details can be found here: http://www.sadiasews.com/kids2007.html) Please do not send in cheater quilts. Cheater quilts are pre quilted panels which only require binding to finish the quilt. However, preprinted blocks can be used to make the quilt.

Last year we collected well over 300 quilts. Each quilt was a masterpiece of love and care. Friends, let us do more this year and bring that spark of caring to the lives of these children.
