Speaking of Purses and Machine Embroidery
One of my favourite Purse designers and dear friend is Carolyn Edwards from http://www.creativeneedlecraft.com/ For months I had been planning on making a purse out of various patterns I had purchased from her but never could get around. Every time Carolyn would beat me to making the purse, LOL. So, while working on the “Something Blue” collection I kept envisioning the “Carol’s Purse” pattern in two tones of blue. Something that would look good with casual attire yet be versatile to accompany a formal attire at the same time.
Latest fashions are all over embroideries. With that in mind I took one design from “Something Blue” collection and embroidered it over and over on the light blue faux suede fabric (front and back middle panels). For the side panels of the bag and the shoulder strap I chose a slightly darker blue faux suede. Matching the embroidery threads, the middle panel embroidery really looked like an expensive purchased material rather than a home embroidery machine product.
The purse pattern and construction were an absolute breeze and I was ever so pleased with the pattern that is so easy to understand and follow. I’ve never really worked with patterns rather I just measure, cut and sew, so this was a new experience for me, and one I definitely enjoyed. The actual construction took me less than an hour, that is how easy it is. The purse itself is created all with two colors of faux suede but any fabric would be fantastic for the pattern. I highly recommend even the most beginner of seamstress to try out the pattern, it is not just easy to follow but extremely versatile as well. Can’t hardly wait to see what new patterns Carolyn comes up with.
