Creating Heirlooms for Tomorrow
So what are our heirlooms for tomorrow as far as Machine Embroidery goes. My firm determination is to be able to present the same heirloom look to our future generations that I and my parent’s generations fancied. With that in mind I am forever trying to capture the beauty of those embroideries into Machine Embroidery designs. Then comes the part of presenting the Machine Embroideries in some form that will mimic the heirlooms of my ancestors. Vintage Linen series was started with this in mind. The past several weeks have been spent in hundreds of hoopings to create this lavish lap quilt.
Each block used four hoopings to create the look that I wanted. Each block measures approximately 14″ square and took weeks of preparation with the Machine Embroidery design files. A few mishaps such as placement did occur but they are far and few and I hope not easily detected by the eye. The whole quilt was then stipple quilted by machine. I am rather pleased with the end result and wonder if I can gather enough nerve to recreate the same with a full size quilt….

Sadia,
The quilt is amazing, a true work of art. It is doubly an heirloom with all the hours you invested into it — not so different in effort than those of yesteryear! (My grandmother and great aunt sewed and embroidered, and the effort that they put into their creations always meant as much to me as the finished project.)
Susan
This is a stunning work of art, and a beautiful quilt! It is truly amazing.
Thank you Susan and Elocn for your comments, I truly appreciate them. HUGS, Sadia
