Freestanding Lace-Machine Embroidery continued

Continuing with the possibilities of freestanding machine embroidered lace,  I finally was able to finish the new collection and also finish the necklace that I had started. I never did find silver chain to my finishednecklace1liking so I used silver beads with black beads. The combination did not take away from the embroidery itself. Moreover, I was also able to incorporate the silver beads as dangling from the points of the lace motif. Overall, the effect is not bad and one that is a great idea for the upcoming holidays…jazz up your outfit simply by stitching out the lace in the colors of your outfit. Ofcourse real jewelry is excellent but this is different and definitely unusual.

It has been such a long while since I played with beads that I was surprised at  the relaxation one gets from doing something different and especially an activity that involves  handwork.

finished necklace side

Ofcourse my creation on the right is a bit bold. The square motif can be used by itself as a necklace or just the barbed leafy lace design could be used as a choker.

Going further with using the same lace motif, I tried to see how many other ways one could  use it. Holiday time means parties and family gatherings and what better way than to set the table in a totally different and unusal way. So, I worked a bit with the lace motif and created a bit of opening on one side.

This way the motif could be slipped onto t he stem of a wine glass. Not only that each guest at the table could have a different color of their choice and or take the lace motif home with them to be used as an ornament for their tree. Lots of ideas!

Sadia: My daughter is getting married in April and I am going to weat a “slimming” nice pantsuit that I will make myself. I love what you did with the jeans and the Kanta lace and thought about that but I think it is too heavy to go down the sides of the pants. The cuffs on the sleeves come to a point too and would like to integrate something into that also, any suggestions? (After the holidays of course) I love your designs and am determined to use one of them, Debbie Lyons

Response:

Congratulations Debbie on your daughter’s wedding. An idea regarding placement of the lace panels can be at then edge of the pants and the edge of your blouse but place the squares rotated at an angle so the points are at the top and bottom. That could take away the heaviness of the lace. Actually the lace is not very heavy at all but if you are using a thinner material for your pants, then perhaps it might not work. I’m posting some pictures that a friend sent me perhaps they might help. Thank you so much for your comment, I truly appreciate. HUGS, Sadia
