Freestanding Machine Embroidery Lace-the possibilities
Last year around Christmas I started on some freestanding lace snowflake designs. As time went by I was pleased but not overly excited with the creations so they sat in my external hard drive until just recently when I started to go through some of the old files. It was chance that I happened upon the designs as I detest going through old files to see what I can salvage. I’d rather digitize from scratch than try to edit and recreate an already existing design. I liked the design but I could not see any customer spending $$ on a design just for making snowflake ornaments. I wanted the design to be multi-purpose yet different so it can be used not just at holiday times but throughout the year.
With that in mind I opened the file but cringed at the amount of changes that I would have to make. Spending about three days non-stop sitting on my computer I was finally able to sketch an idea that was not just a snowflake design but also could be used for borders, coasters, edges, etc, etc. But that’s not all….what do you think of this?
The free drawing image is courtesy of Embird 2006 which allows one to store animated images of designs. The four leaf design put together is the actual snowflake. The barbed looking leaves are a border or edge design. Putting both together I was able to create an interesting twist to freestanding lace.
I have not found the right chain for this necklace but hope to go shopping soon. The collection is ofcourse part of the Kanta Lace series, Kanta Lace 7 and I hope to release it shortly. The possiblities of freestanding lace is amazing and I for one am excited in finishing up the collection. Two designs and a masterpiece!!

Wonderful idea. Can’t wait to see the designs.
