Heirloom for babies-Machine Embroidery
About a month ago, I was browsing the allaboutblanks website (http://www.allaboutblanks.com/) when I noticed that Susan is now carrying some adorable linen baby wearables. Ofcourse I had to get one of each to check them out. My first reaction upon receiving the goods was the quality of the linen. I have purchased linen items from many places on the internet but time and again I return to Susan Mar’s website simply because of the quality that she offers.
One of my favourite items are the collars which can easily convert a simple girl’s dress or boy’s romper into an heirloom. I purchased several different sizes and used the Arabi III designs (without the cutwork) and the Tambour Lace III edging to decorate. I have a boy’s collar all designed to stitch out as soon as I return home.
Another item that caught my attention was the linen girl’s dress which is so very adorable. I have plans to decorate some more but thought to share my initial work so far. Again, I used the Tambour Lace III edging around the edge of the sleeves and as a trim on the bodice. The tiny fan shaped edging really is excellent for baby heirloom items and depending upon the thread used can give a true hand made look. I used poly thread with my samples.
The boy’s romper is another of my favourites.
Now, I’m calling it a boy’s romper but actually it is great for both boys and girls. For this item I chose to use the stars and moon design from Heirloom Crystals II collection and again used the Tambour Lace III edging (this time stitched in blue) around the cuffs of the pant legs and the bodice. For baby showers, Christmas gifts, these items make a very nice statement and definitely use your imagination with the embroidery designs to create heirlooms for tomorrow.
